The Prattville Lady Lions varsity softball team traveled to Phenix City on Thursday evening to face off with Central and ended up on the wrong end of an 8-2 game. The Red Devils played small ball and generated twelve hits, six of which were perfectly executed bunts.
This was a game best forgotten for the Lady Lions. While Prattville pounded out eleven hits in the game, they had four runners retired on the bases after hits. They also left some big opportunities on the table, stranding nine runners in the game. With the Red Devils small ball offense generating runs throughout the game, the Lady Lions were not able to keep pace.
The silver lining was the overall offensive attack as Ty Wilson, Melissa Townsend, Kaelyn Campbell, Pyper Castro, and Kensley Jarman all had two hits apiece. There were fifteen runners who reached base safely in the game.
In the JV game, Central won 4-0 over Prattville’s JV squad.
Prattville’s varsity team will be back in action this weekend in tournament action at Millbrook’s Mill Creek Park. The tournament is hosted by Prattville Christian Academy.
